This morning Adam decided he wanted to dress like Sheriff Woody. He did a pretty good job of putting together a similar look using clothes in his closet, his winter boots, and a few items from our costume bin.

He was disappointed that his belt didn’t have a big yellow oval (belt buckle) like Woody’s though. He also insisted that he needed a “coaster” (holster) on his belt.

I told him I didn’t know how to make one and he told me to just use the brown fabric I used to make Woody’s hat. He’s a smart kid and has more faith in my sewing abilities than I do.

Adam stood right next to me and watched me do the cutting and sewing. He was very happy with the end results and hasn’t taken it off since he put it on (three-year-olds are pretty easy to impress).

Sorry for the lack of posting last week. I was on vacation (I’m not really sorry either). My parents were off of work and so they hosted a spring session of “camp” for the boys. I was able to get a lot done around here and I know for a fact the kids had a fantastic time with Papa and Mabel.

They brought Adam and Luke back on Friday and Adam has already started packing for his next trip to their house. He keeps saying he wants to go back in “free” more days. I think Luke wanted to go back even sooner, because when they were getting ready to leave yesterday he put on his coat, waved good-bye to Dave and me, and walked right out the door with them.

Adam and Mabel made a paper chain to count down the number of days until the new baby gets here. It’s a pretty short chain. Thankfully there are only a few things left on my “getting ready for baby” list. I need to do a couple of loads of newborn sized laundry, pack a bag for the hospital, install the baby’s carseat, have Dave set up the bassinet, and I think we’re set. Oh, it would probably help if we decided on a boy name before then too (we’ve had a girl name set since day one).

Thankfully we’ve still got some time.

Happy Easter! Adam has spent the past week trying to figure out where the bunny was going to hide his and Luke’s baskets. The first place he checked this morning was the bathtub (that’s where the Easter Bunny hid them last year). His second stop was the dryer.

He wasn’t impressed to find it full of laundry. (I never am either buddy.)

After some thinking, he was able to find Luke’s basket.

It was hiding inside the jumperoo – because bunnies like to hop you know.

It wasn’t long after that, with some hints from daddy, that Adam found his basket in the TV stand.

Okay, so technically they weren’t baskets, they were bags that I made. They did the job though, and will be much easier to store than baskets. We even have a third one ready to go for next Easter – it just needs a name.

Both boys loved opening the eggs and seeing what was inside. Adam refilled his several times and acted just as surprised each time.

I got the disk with the rest of our Easter pictures in the mail today. So here they are!

Whenever I do laundry, Adam turns in to the “Laundry Beast”. He steals the piles of clothes as I fold them and demands “more laundry” in a growly monster voice. The best part about this game is that he puts the clothes away. He knows where all of my, his, and Luke’s things go and can put away everything but the clothes that get hung in the closet (Dave does his own laundry – he’s good like that).

Now, the piles don’t always end up neatly folded in the drawers, but I’m totally okay with that. Adam loves “stealing” the clothes and it’s fun for both of us (plus it’s less work for me). It does take a little longer to get the laundry done, but I love that he’s helping with chores and having fun at the same time. While he waits for the piles to appear I have him work on sorting socks (that’s my least favorite part of folding clothes). He gets really excited each time he finds a match.

Luke tries to get in on the fun sometimes too. His version of laundry beast involves grabbing random clothes and shoving them in whatever drawer he’s able to open. It’s much less helpful, but still cute. He is much better at helping me move the clothes from the washing machine to the dryer.

It has nothing to do with laundry, but they sure are cute.

Supposedly, tomorrow is the first day of spring.

I think someone missed the memo.

Adam insisted that all his friends sit on the couch this morning. Then he decided it was a mountain and scaled it repeatedly.

I think Luke was just excited to have some new things to snuggle with – he’s a cuddler, that boy.

These kids are something else – weird, but still pretty cute.

That hat was made for Adam by my Aunt Cathy when he was just a little guy.

He still insists it fits fine.

Adam pulls every trick out of the book to prolong bedtime. It is always a struggle getting him to sleep. Here are some of the stalling tactics he tried last night (there were more than four, but these were my favorites).

1. I need my flip flops.
2. What do satellites do? (Dave had to field this one, since I’m still banned from talking to our children about space.)
3. Did you know they make milk containers without handles?
4. Can I have ice cream for breakfast? (The answer was no, if you’re curious.)

He also tried to convince me that one of the times he was out of bed he was really sleepwalking.

Eventually he did fall asleep. Good thing he had his flip flops.
