So one of my New Year’s Resolutions is to post to this website at least once a week.  That means I need to get something up tonight – or else I’ll have already broken it. I am also going to try to do something called Project 365 – where you take a photo a day for a year.  So far I’ve kept up with that (they are all still on the camera though).  There have been two nights – tonight’s one of them-where the daily picture was of Adam asleep in his bassinet.  I have a feeling that will be a common theme.  The pictures won’t necessarily all be of Adam – however he is a pretty darn cute subject. (Edited on 1/12 – I gave up on this idea already.  We’re too boring for a picture a day.)

The biggest new thing of 2010 is that my little man is sitting up by himself.  He looks like such a big boy sitting alone and playing with (and by playing with, I mean gnawing on) his toys.  I do have pictures of  this (also still on the camera).

I also have a good reason for being such a slacker (other than my general nature and time-consuming 5 month old) – my laptop is doing this thing where the screen likes to turn black while you’re working on it.  Of course I can fix it – all you have to do is close the top, open it again, wait a couple of seconds, close it again, and then open it again (good thing I have that engineering degree right?).  The problem is the fix only lasts for about 2 minutes (not an exaggeration) before it starts all over again.  So I am working on our really slow desktop – which is functional if a bit painful.  Hopefully we’ll be getting a new screen put in my laptop soon and then I’ll have to come up with a new excuse.  Until then though – I am considering Week 1 of this resolution a success.  Happy New Year Everyone.

A year ago last night is when we shared the news that Adam was on his way (of course didn’t know that he was a he, much less that he was an Adam at the time).  I can’t believe that he’s just a few days away from being 5 months old!

We took Adam to see Santa and while we couldn’t get him to smile, he didn’t cry either.  In my book that’s a success.  I am pretty sure that’s the best mall Santa I’ve ever seen.  His beard was even real!

And of course I’m way behind again with the pictures – posting pictures of Christmas before Thanksgiving (to be honest though we did go see Santa on November 23rd – so chronologically I am okay even if I’m off seasonally).   Maybe I’ll make a New Year’s Resolution to make a new post at least once week.  Or maybe I should make a resolution not to, and then I will either follow through with it by continuing to slack off, or I’ll break it and write more – either way someone will win.

Here are some pictures from our trip to Disney World last month for my birthday.  It was the little dude’s first visit and so they gave him a pin.  I was convinced it would pop open and stab him though, so I just set it on him for this picture and then stuck it on his stroller.

I also got a pin because it was my birthday.  I was going to wear it (I am not afraid of pins)  but the first time I held Adam with it on  he ended up with black marker on his face from where they wrote my name – so I took it off.  I did put it back on later after dropping chocolate ice cream on my shirt.  The ink was dry and it hid the stain nicely.

I wanted to get a set of mouse ears for Adam to commemorate his first trip to the Magic Kingdom.  They had ears in all different sizes, including infant sized ones – perfect right?  Not so much.

Yeah, those were the “infant” ears.  As you can see they were a bit big for Adam (I bet they would have fit Dave.  Dave has a really small melon).  So we just took his picture in them and then returned them to the shelf.  We did get a couple of cute pictures of Adam with the ears though (and saved about $14).

The first character we saw was Pluto.  So we got in line right away to get Adam’s picture taken with him.  This is basically what we did all day – stand in line and get photos taken with the characters.   We got tons of adorable pictures.  They will be perfect when he’s older and wants to go back (See Adam, you already met Mickey! What do you mean you don’t remember?).

He wasn’t too sure how he felt about this kiss from Pluto.  I can’t believe these pictures are only from a month ago.  Adam was so little!! That kid just keeps getting bigger and bigger.  I’m going to stop feeding him.

Well – that’s not too bad.  I got through the start of Disney and our first character meeting.  Adam is starting to wake up from his nap though, so I’ll have to continue this later.

I don’t think I mentioned that on our way to Florida last month we stopped in Hilton Head for a couple of days.  If we had it to do over again I don’t know if we would make the same choice.  I think we’d have been better off getting to Florida sooner and spending more time there – live and learn though right?

While we were in Hilton Head we visited their lighthouse.  It was on the smallish is side, but that’s okay. I don’t think either of us was too interested in lugging Adam up hundreds of stairs.

This is the only picture you get from our trip to Hilton Head.  We tried to take some pictures on the beach one evening, but our camera was all foggy (from going from the air conditioned hotel room to the super hot and humid outside).  So all of our pictures look like this:

Okay, so I lied.  You get two pictures from Hilton Head.  This was Adam’s first time at the ocean and it’s too cute not to post – foggy or not.

I guess I don’t have to have long posts every time I write here.  I’m sure most people would be happy with just an Adam picture.  So here you go:

After my dad and Dave got done raking leaves we had a nice pile to stick Adam in.  He was sitting in his bumbo (which is bright blue) and we just covered it in leaves.  He didn’t fuss at all and was actually pretty content grabbing the leaves and trying to stuff them in his mouth.

One of the things I knew I wanted to do this Halloween was carve out a pumpkin, put Adam in it, and take pictures.  So while we were in New York Dave went and picked up a great one for the bargain price of $5 (he also got me a Tim Horton’s breakfast sandwich – mmmmm – I love those things and we don’t have them here – which is probably a good thing).

Dave cut the top off and removed the guts (I hate that part) and then we made sure our son will have nightmares of gourds for the next several years.  He was okay at first…

But it didn’t take long for him to realize that he really, really didn’t like it.

I can’t say I blame him – it was cold and slimy. He had no problems voicing his displeasure to the whole street.

And just so you don’t think we are totally terrible parents – he was dressed from the waist down.  And immediately after we were done with the pictures we took him in to a nice warm bath.

We’re not completely evil.

Honest.

I’ll post more on this later and lots of adorable pictures of Adam too (are there any other kind??), but for now I just wanted to say that I had an absolutely fantastic birthday with my boys at Disney World.

Oh…and I’m not thirty, I’m twenty-ten.  🙂

Seriously, it’s like I turned my back for a second and this kid decided it was okay to go and get huge. I do not approve.

The worst part is that he doesn’t show any signs of stopping this behavior.

This is what I woke up to this morning.  He’s such a happy little guy!  Seriously – this kid just gets cuter every day and it’s a good thing too – it counterbalances him spitting up on me 4 times before 10 am.
