Unfortunately this has been a common sight lately. Adam’s second tooth is trying to push through and on top of that he’s got a cough and a stuffy nose – poor little man. His tooth hurts, which makes him cry, then that makes his nose even stuffier, and that just ticks him off. Because of this we’re both a little cranky and short on sleep. We made a trip to Target today to restock on Orajel (I left the last tube in NY and that is really no help to him – or me), so hopefully that will help.
The Little Dude’s 1st Easter
The bunny was very good to the little man (as were Aunt Stacy, G-ma, and Papa). Here he is in between his two Easter baskets.
I’d like to take a moment here to point out that he’s wearing a pair of dinosaur pajamas and what’s that on the top of the basket to his right?? I know you can’t really tell from the picture, but it’s a new pair of dino-jammies!! Dinosaurs playing basketball to be exact.
He had the best time pulling everything out of the baskets. He would take something out of the basket (in this case his new shorts from Grandma and Papa – they’re plaid, that’s Grandma Connie’s favorite color), hold it in the air to show us, and then put it down and move on to something else.
Here he’s tasting his new trucks….mmmm….plastic….yum.
He was also a big fan of the plastic eggs. He loves banging them together.
This next picture kills me. That rocking chair was mine when I was little. I should dig up a picture of me sitting in it. I can’t believe that Adam’s big enough for it (he even knows how to make it rock).
And here’s one last pic of the little dude in his Easter duds. Isn’t he just about the most handsome baby boy ever? I think so.
That rabbit’s got a vicious streak a mile wide! It’s a killer!
About two weeks ago I took Adam to the mall so he could get his photo taken with the Easter Bunny. He handled the bunny pretty well. No smiles, but they did get a nice picture before he started to cry.
He handled it a lot better than I would have. People in costumes like that freak me out (minus the ones at Disney, for some reason they’re okay).
I scream, Adam screams….
Adam has it so rough. He travels over 400 miles to visit Grandma & Papa and less than 24 hours after arriving they put him to work on Papa’s tractor.
Then the poor kid is forced to spend a couple of hours playing on the front porch with Grandma before he’s allowed a milk break.
And then he had to take a walk in his stroller so Mama and Grandma could get lunch. After lunch there was more walking to the grocery store (Adam decided he’d had enough and slept through most of this). When he did wake up (while at the third stop of the day) he was not a happy boy. I mean seriously an ice cream shop?? What kind of horrible people torture a little boy by making him wait in line at an ice cream shop? And ice cream is horrible, it’s yucky like green beans (the one food we’ve found so far that he’s not too fond of). Oh, wait….
Ice cream is good!! It’s not anything like green beans! Ice cream is even better than carrots!!
By the end of the cone both Grandma and Adam were covered in chocolate ice cream. Mommy was able to avoid the mess because she gave up ice cream for Lent. Ha ha Grandma!! I really don’t think that she minded too much – a couple squirts of stain remover, a quick bath in the sink (for Adam, not Grandma) and the mess was gone.
I am pretty sure we’ve created a chocoholic, ice cream loving monster though.
Dino-mite!
This is the picture I should have posted on Wednesday. I meant to write a big thing about how I can’t believe the little dude is eight months old, and that’s two-thirds of a year, and he’s huge, and old, and practically driving a car, and yada yada yada, but I couldn’t because approximately 2 hours after taking this photo I lost my camera. Dave found it when he got home from work – the couch had eaten it. I think the couch may have had help from a certain eight month old that treats the couch like his own personal playground.
Okay, confession time, I think I might have a slight addiction to dinosaur pajamas. When I was packing for our WNY Easter adventure I folded 4 pairs of 9 month sized dino-jammies. To be fair, one pair came from Aunt Stacy for Christmas, but the other three pairs were all my fault.
And since we’re just laying it all on the line here – it’s not just pjs. If you look at the pictures I did post on the 31st (all of which came from my cell phone since my camera was still MIA) Adam is wearing a dinosaur shirt. Not just a dinosaur, a dinosaur on a motorcycle!! The cuteness – it burns!!
So there you have it. I like dinosaurs and so I force my child to wear a lot of clothing with dinosaurs on them. I figure I should take advantage the fact that he lacks the coordination neccessary to dress himself, when he’s 15 I doubt he’ll let me put him in a T-Rex top. That doesn’t mean I won’t try though – I mean what if it was a T-Rex on a skateboard?? That’d be cute right? I mean cool, that’d be cool, or something.
Tales of the Two Foot Terror
So far today Adam has learned how to climb stairs, figured out how to open his wipes (and removed 3 of them before I could get the box away from him), and tipped over a garbage can.
He’s a very busy boy. We also took a nice long walk to the grocery store (it’s 71 degrees here today!).
The fresh air really tired him out. He fell asleep when we were halfway to the store and didn’t wake up until we were home and I stopped pushing the stroller.
Of course now that he’s awake he’s full of energy. He just crawled over to me, used the couch to stand up, and bit my toe. I’m so glad he only has one tooth.
New Mother Lesson #47
Dear Huggies,
Store brand wipes are cheaper for a reason. I am sorry I strayed and promise to be a loyal Huggies wipes consumer from now on. Please send coupons.
Love,
Sandy
Like a Weed
I finally got around to adding the Bear in the Chair Pictures from the last two months to the rest of them. I can’t get over the difference between one week and now. His hair has lightened up so much. The worst part is that it’s almost time to take his 8 month picture – I’m still trying to figure out how it’s possible for time to go so quickly!
As far as recent Adam developments go, last weekend he started giving me kisses when I ask for them (and sometimes when I don’t). His kisses are open mouthed, slobbery, and fantastic. And then yesterday he climbed his first step. When you’re on our first floor there is a step (and landing) you have to go up to get out of the house. When I was unloading groceries I had Adam sitting in the living room and he decided to climb that step and meet me at the front door. He did not offer to carry in any groceries for me – we’re going to work on that.
If you’re lucky enough to be Irish, then you’re lucky enough!!
That’s the best picture I could get today of our little guy in his St. Patrick’s Day duds. He’s been in a pretty miserable mood most of the day (could it be because he didn’t go to bed until midnight last night? I know that made his mother pretty cranky). He is currently napping on the couch with Dave, hopefully he wakes up in better spirits (teething is fun!!). Crankiness on St. Patrick’s Day should be outlawed! He should be joyfully celebrating his Irish heritage today (and for the record he gets that from me – monkey toes from Daddy and Irishness from Mommy). He is pretty much a mutt though – Irish, a bunch of German, some Swedish, a bit of Polish, and a little Italian too.
Oh, and here’s a little Irish lesson for those of you not lucky enough to trace your roots back to the Emerald Isle (though Dave assures me everyone is Irish today). If you want to shorten up the name of the day, it’s St. Paddy’s Day, not St. Patty’s Day. Patty is feminine, Paddy is masculine. So there you go, you learned something new and got to see a picture of a really cute baby. I think that makes for a pretty darn good day.
I think I deserve a nap too!
