Somebaby took a header in the garage earlier. He cried for all of two seconds and then wanted to get down and play again. He’s got a nice little knot on his melon as a souvenir of his trip – other than that he’s just fine.
Adam O’ Lantern
My goal for this week is to update this site at least three times. I am trying to get back in to the swing of regular updates. Things around here have been really nuts lately. Adam is currently working on four molars. They’ve all started to break through, but none are all the way in yet. To say that his teeth are making him miserable would be a huge understatement. This past week he has woke up in the middle of the night on three separate occasions shrieking. It’s awesome.
Last weekend my friend Kelly and I took Adam to The Great Pumpkin Farm. It was huge. There were carnival games and rides, haunted houses, hay rides, magic shows, a corn maze, a pumpkin cannon, a petting zoo, and tons of food. They even had bunnies for sale for $10 (I vetoed Kelly’s idea to buy one for Adam).
We took Adam through the “Boo Barn” – a not-so-scary haunted house geared toward kids and pansies like me.
He wasn’t too crazy about the giant sleeping troll. The did have a set of fun-house mirrors that he loved looking at. Oh, and check out the snazzy new umbrella stroller I got for my birthday. I’m sure the fact that I asked for a stroller speaks volumes about my age, but I refuse to listen to that talk.
This next picture was taken right before he leaned forward and fell out of that window. Thankfully I caught him – Super Mommy to the rescue!
He liked to look at all the animals – but wasn’t too crazy about them if they came too close to him.
He was nuts about all of the pumpkins though. I think he could have wandered around drumming the pumpkins all day.
I’ve never seen so many pumpkins!!
Like a Bee
Things around here lately have been insane – there’s really no other word for it. I’m hoping we’re on the way to settling in a routine again and creating a new normal. Until then though, here’s a picture of Short Round from yesterday.
I really need to figure out how to rig a cup holder in his car. It will have to wait though – right now I need to rescue my cell phone from him before it ends up in the toilet.
Wish I was a little bit taller…
I see you!

Happy October
4 Years (But Who’s Counting?)
It’s not you, it’s her
I had to give Adam a lecture earlier on how to treat the ladies. He tried several times to kiss an adorable little four year old girl. She was not impressed by his smooth moves and wanted nothing to do with him. I tried to explain to the little Don Juan that not only was she too old for him, but also that he needed to at least buy her dinner first before he tried to put the moves on her.
He did manage to get her digits. And was texting her this afternoon.
I guess I should probably have told her that I can’t read…
Oh, and I can’t text either. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea after all.
(No, Adam didn’t actually get the little girl’s phone number – based on her reaction to his kisses – he figured she wasn’t that in to him.)
Can he fix it?
This past weekend Stacy and Rob came to visit and instead we made them work all weekend. Stacy helped me organize my laundry/craft room and get a ton of boxes unpacked. Dave and Rob spent a bunch of time beautifying outside (Rob is pretty handy with a hedge clipper) and they also moved some furniture around and put together our new desk.
They couldn’t have gotten the desk together without Adam’s help. He is a gooood helper. Here he was standing inside the desk, wowing the crowd with his peek-a-boo skillz (yes, with a “z”, little man has mad skillz).
Once they stood the desk upright and started putting some nails in, Adam was ready to go.
I can work twice as fast as you Daddy, because I use TWO hammers!
You’d be done already if you used two hammers too.
Now these pictures just perplex us. There were three adults in the room and none of us saw how Adam got in there. He did it himself (he was trying to get his ping pong ball out).
And not only did he manage to climb into that space, but he had enough room to turn around too (and rescued his ping pong ball – which was his mission all along).
Uncle Rob had to help him out though.
