Pink

There was a fundraiser at a local ice cream place for Adam’s school tonight. Luke requested “just vanilla, in a cone, with nooooo sprinkles”.

2016-06-01 17.56.04

Adam wanted “worms and dirt” (gummy worms and oreos).

2016-06-01 17.56.12

Little Miss Maggie asked for “pink”, and was very pleased with her strawberry Italian ice.

One More Florida Post

On our last full day in Florida, we took a walk down a pier.  The kids loved watching the people. We saw folks fishing, surfing, and flying kites on the beach.

20160331_134912 20160331_135019 IMG_5207 IMG_5219

We had a delicious lunch with an awesome ocean view. The kids had ice cream sundaes with french fries for dessert.

IMG_5220

Afterwards we went hunting for shells.

IMG_5224 IMG_5225 IMG_5233 IMG_5235

And then spent some more time playing at the beach.

IMG_5255 IMG_5257

The kids’ favorite thing to do was run away from the water.

IMG_5265 IMG_5266 IMG_5267 IMG_5268 IMG_5271 IMG_5273 IMG_5278 IMG_5281 IMG_5282

And of course, they were back in Grandma and Grandpa’s swimming pool that evening.

IMG_5283

Grandma was able to convince Luke to get out of the floaties and into the water.

IMG_5284

Maggie needed no convincing.

IMG_5285 IMG_5286 IMG_5287 IMG_5288

Adam even got Luke to jump in with him.

IMG_5289 IMG_5290

And here’s a shot of all those shells after Dave’s mom was nice enough clean them all up (and make sure we didn’t inadvertently bring home any critters).

IMG_5295

And now you’re all caught up on Florida. Now I just have to get through the last month and a half.

Pancakes, Paddling, and Pool

While we were in Florida, we took a trip to De Leon Springs State Park.

20160330_101225

The kids spent some time on the playground and Adam showed off his gymnastics skills.

The park has a natural spring that is 72 degrees year-round.

20160330_103914 20160330_110733

There are underwater caves and we saw scuba divers there getting ready to go explore.

20160330_111154

We ate at the Old Spanish Sugar Mill.

20160330_111938

The kids loved having their pancakes cooked right at the table.

20160330_115750

After we ate, we went canoeing.

20160330_121326

Adam shared a boat with Dave’s parents.

20160330_121330

Dave and I were with Maggie and Luke. This was my view, and while it was a beautiful day, I’m not going lie – not being able to see what the kids were doing behind me was a little stressful. And hearing Dave reminding Maggie to sit down as the boat rocked, didn’t help.

20160330_121331

I tried to snap a picture while we were out on the water, but couldn’t get Luke.

20160330_121332

Here we are at the end of out trip – everyone stayed in the boat (thank goodness) and the kids had a ball.

20160330_121334

When we got back they jumped right in the pool again.

20160330_121344

Then the kids got all cleaned up for dinner with Dave’s grandparents. Adam suggested I might want to take this picture, because they all looked so nice. That boy knows me so well.

20160330_193457

It was so nice to see Grandma & Grandpa U and spend some time with them during our trip.

Fort, Beach, and Pool

We visited Fort Matanzas while we were in Florida.

20160329_133900

We had to take a short boat ride to get there.

20160329_133901 20160329_133902 20160329_133919

The boys really liked the cannons.

20160329_133920

And exploring the inside of the fort.

20160329_133921 20160329_133924

A couple of dolphins joined us for the trip back.

20160329_140322

It was a pretty awesome unexpected surprise.

After the fort, we went to the beach.

20160329_144912

Luke insisted that he “wasn’t going to go in the ocean”, but changed his mind pretty quickly.

20160329_145035 20160329_145159 20160329_145230

Adam really liked finding seashells with Dave.

Dave and the kids built a sandcastle too.

20160329_154727

It was a lot of fun and I was amazed by how much the kids loved the water. We left with some very tired kids.

20160329_165221

That didn’t stop Adam and Maggie from getting right in the pool though.

20160329_170349

Maggie loved leaning back in her pool float and signing, “la la la la.”

20160329_171534 20160329_171559 20160329_174326

That night, after baths, the kids were spoiled with some Easter baskets from Grandma and Grandpa.

20160329_200507

It was a really, really great day.

Florida Vacation: Part II

Legoland was just the start to our Spring Break in Florida. After we took Mabel to the airport, we continued on to Dave’s parents’ house. As soon as the van was unloaded, the kids were in the pool.

20160328_182702

This is one of my favorite pictures of the kids from our trip. They love that fire boat!

20160328_184111

Dave’s mom made him a fun birthday cake.

20160328_202939 20160328_202946

Between the pool and the cake, the kids were thrilled. Maggie didn’t waste any time picking our her out bed.

20160328_212109

As if my kids weren’t wowed enough by bunk beds (Legoland was their first time sleeping on them), these ones folded up into the wall – very, very cool.

He shoots, he scores (sort of)

I was able to get a video of Adam making his first goal of the spring soccer season last night. After he kicked the ball, a player from the other team accidentally knocks it in. It still counts as a goal for Adam though. He is the only blue player that touches the ball in this clip, so that should make it easier for you to keep an eye on him.

Legoland Day 3

A Lego Princess came to visit us during our breakfast. The kids loved her. She told us all about her tiger, Karen, and had all of us laughing.

20160328_082624 20160328_082912

We ran into Max in the lobby, it was the first time we’d seen him. It was also the first time that Maggie willingly got her photo taken with one of the characters.

20160328_083512

Here’s Luke showing off the newspaper that was left outside our hotel room door.

20160328_084715

20160328_090704

Once we were in the park, Luke convinced me to go on his favorite ride with him.

20160328_095334

Dave and Adam hit The Dragon roller coaster again.

20160328_095833

We watched the space shuttle launch.

IMG_5457 IMG_5467

The kids, Mabel, and I spent some time in one of the park’s playground areas while Dave got us all checked out of the hotel and loaded up the van.

IMG_5476 IMG_5477

They built a pretty impressive wall and then had fun knocking it down.

IMG_5481

One of Adam’s favorite things was trading Lego minifigures with the people that worked there.

IMG_5488 IMG_5495 IMG_5502

We spent a little time in the botanical gardens part of the park.

IMG_5514 IMG_5522

And then one last ride on the carousel before we left Legoland.

IMG_5542

Dave snapped some pictures on the way out. Here’s the main park entrance.

IMG_5560

And another shot of the hotel.

IMG_5561

It was really an awesome trip and we’re already trying to figure out when we can go back.

IMG_5568

Legoland Day 2

Warning – there are a lot of pictures here. I don’t know how many we took – but I kept 366 and narrowed it down to 42 to share here.

IMG_5099

Yes, I made us all Lego head shirts. I, I mean the kids, loved them.

img_5100 img_5102

Adam and Luke went on their first roller coaster ride. Luke was not a fan.

IMG_5181 IMG_5187

All the kids loved the Lego Boating School though.

IMG_5197

Maggie’s driving needs help.

IMG_5199

The boys went to the Ford Driving School too.

IMG_5221 IMG_5240

Here’s Adam with the license he got at the end.

IMG_5241 IMG_5280

Here’s a Lego hippo, because they’re Adam’s favorites.

IMG_5281 IMG_5283 IMG_5284

There was a whole Lego Star Wars section. I think the boys (Dave included) could have spent all day there.

IMG_5285

My boys with Benny the Spaceman.

IMG_5288

Tired little lady.IMG_5289 IMG_5293

Because the hotel is right next to the park, we were able to take a mid-afternoon siesta. One of the things on our to-do list when we went back to the park was to see the pirate water ski show.

IMG_5314 IMG_5329 IMG_5335 IMG_5340

We found Aunt Stacy’s spot.

IMG_5341 IMG_5342

You can sort of see the hotel and pool in the background here. You can also see Maggie’s awesome Lego bow barrettes.

IMG_5343 IMG_5352 IMG_5358 IMG_5365

Luke was thrilled to be driving the train.

IMG_5377 IMG_5384 IMG_5389 IMG_5394

And we found a ride Luke loved.

IMG_5407 IMG_5422 IMG_5430 IMG_5432

One of the park employees gave Dave a pass to skip to the front of any line because it was his birthday. So we used it to go to the boating school again.

IMG_5435

That night at the hotel, Luke and Adam attended a Lego Master Builder’s Workshop.

IMG_5446

They made parrots that they got to keep.

IMG_5447

In this picture, Dave is watching the end of the Syracuse basketball game on his phone, Luke is fighting crime with the Lego light saber, and Maggie is done with photos.

IMG_5451

A birthday picture of Dave and the kids.

IMG_6000

Back in the hotel and ready for bed after a super awesome day!
