{"id":333,"date":"2010-02-06T01:00:41","date_gmt":"2010-02-06T05:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/grimmfamilytales.com\/?p=333"},"modified":"2010-02-06T01:00:41","modified_gmt":"2010-02-06T05:00:41","slug":"6-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/grimmfamilytales.com\/index.php\/6-months\/","title":{"rendered":"6 Months"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This past Sunday was the little dude&#8217;s very first half-birthday.\u00a0 I am still having a hard time believing he has been around for that long.<\/p>\n<p>We had his six month check-up this past week.\u00a0 He weighs 17 lbs 1 ounce and is 26 inches long.\u00a0 The doctor mentioned that based on my and Dave&#8217;s heights they&#8217;d like him to be a little taller (he&#8217;s in a lower percentile).\u00a0 I hate the talk about percentiles.\u00a0 My boy is healthy, happy, and will grow at his own speed.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know what they want me to do about it anyway.\u00a0 Dave suggested hanging him upside down by his feet and letting his gigantic melon stretch him out.\u00a0 I vetoed it.\u00a0 And for the record, my baby&#8217;s head isn&#8217;t that big.\u00a0 It&#8217;s just perfect.\u00a0 Dave has a child-sized head though &#8211; so his perspective is skewed.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not kidding about the child-sized head either.\u00a0 When he goes to the batting cages they make him wear the kid&#8217;s helmets because the adult ones are too big.<\/p>\n<p>The doctor also told us to go ahead and start Adam on solid foods (or at least really mushy foods that may be available in solid forms for those of us with teeth).\u00a0 So tonight he got his first taste of rice cereal.\u00a0 He took to it right away and even tried to &#8220;help&#8221; by holding the spoon &#8211; which just resulted in more cereal on his face and less in his mouth.\u00a0 He also spent a fair amount of time trying to eat the bib (first time wearing one of those).<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll stick with the rice cereal for a couple more weeks and then introduce the vegetables.\u00a0 Lucky Adam!\u00a0 I think we&#8217;ll start with carrots.\u00a0 According to my grandpa they&#8217;re good for the eyes &#8211; you&#8217;ve never seen a rabbit wearing glasses have you?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-337\" title=\"eat3\" src=\"http:\/\/grimmfamilytales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/eat3-1024x819.jpg\" alt=\"eat3\" width=\"491\" height=\"393\" srcset=\"http:\/\/grimmfamilytales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/eat3-1024x819.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/grimmfamilytales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/eat3-300x240.jpg 300w, http:\/\/grimmfamilytales.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/eat3.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 491px) 100vw, 491px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This past Sunday was the little dude&#8217;s very first half-birthday.\u00a0 I am still having a hard time believing he has been around for that long.
