Happy Birthday Luke-Luke

This sweet boy turned 7 today!

He really is the most thoughtful, kind kid I know. He adores his baby sister and is always thinking about other people (for example, today he based his birthday lunch selection on which restaurant Adam would like to eat at).

So it was nice to celebrate and spoil this amazing kid today.

He picked a peanut butter cup ice cream cake for today.

The candles couldn’t stick in the frozen topping, so I mom-Gyvered a fix with some cookies. Luke thought it made his cake even more awesome.

Happy Birthday Luke-Luke, you give the absolute best hugs and I am so lucky that I get to be your mom.

Playing the Ponies

Each of the kids picked a horse for the Belmont Stakes today (they did it for the Kentucky Derby and Preakness too). Maggie was devastated when her horse didn’t win the Preakness (there were tears).

She had better luck today.

I’m never taking this girl to the races, I’d go broke.

Camp Invention

The boys both attended Camp Invention again this year. It was Adam’s third year and Luke’s second.

They participated in a variety of activities. Each camper was given a robotic dog. The dogs didn’t work, so the kids took them apart, diagnosed the problem, fixed the pup up, and then adopted and decorated them.

They designed mini mansions and outfitted them with gadgets and LEDs.

Each camper also got an Optibot. It’s a self-driving bot that senses changes in light.

They did a lot of fun things this week, so rather than me talking about it, I figured I’d let them.
