Maggie’s Gymnastics Exhibition

Maggie had her gymnastics exhibition (another May event) and since the boys were out of school, they got to come see it with Annie and me. Maggie is the fourth kid in line in the video below (look for the braids).

This was her first pass through the routine.

That flip on the bar gave her a hard time, but she stuck with it!

She got better each pass through.

Maggie’s doll, Fruity (formally known as George – like all her other dolls), was there too, in her matching leotard.

Hair Bows and Rainbows

I was so excited when I saw this mini-session background at my favorite photography place. I found the perfect dress (after buying and returning one or two others) and hair bows for Annie.

Annie wasn’t really feeling it though. The poor girl was not all interested in the photographer.

Then big sister came to the rescue with a giant yellow rubber duck.

Maggie was able to coax a few smiles out, thankfully.

Last Day of School

May also brought the last day of school for Adam and Luke. (Here is the first day for comparison.)

Luke got his name on the plaque for reading 1,000 books. We are pretty sure he was the only first grader to achieve that this year, so it’s a really big deal. He also got a couple of math awards too. He’s a smart cookie (and he’ll tell you that’s an idiom).

Adam also did well at his awards’ assembly. (We weren’t able to attend that one.)

When the boys got home, we continued our end of the school year tradition of going out for ice cream.

May Milestones

Maggie had her assessment for kindergarten.

We surprised Adam by signing him up for a musical theater summer camp (it’s a week long, just a couple hours each day). He has been wanting to learn a musical instrument and try acting, so he was really excited. This will be in addition to basketball camp, Camp Invention, running camp, and gymnastics camp. Our kids will be nothing if not well-rounded.

The boys had field day at school.

Annie learned a new trick.

She also turned 11 months old.

And joined the fire department.

We went to see another play.

Luke had his last soccer game of the season.

It was immediately followed by his first baseball game of the year.

Like I said, well-rounded.

Maggie and the Bear

I’ve done a pretty decent job of keeping up with “Bear in the Chair” pictures with the kids. I wonder how old they will be when we stop? 10? 13? 18? Never? I don’t know, but that answer is definitely not five.

Here’s a rundown of how we got here.
