And so it begins

I found this drawing when I was going through Adam’s backpack this afternoon.

Me: That’s a really nice flower drawing. Did you make it for me?

Adam: No, Kara made it and gave it to me.

Me: Kara huh? That’s really nice of her.

Adam: Yeah, she’s in my class and she sits in front of me on the bus. She told me that I’m handsome.

Me: That was nice of her. Did you tell her that she’s pretty?

Adam: No. I just said thank you.

Colorful Valentines

The weather here today was in the high 50s, so after lunch we went outside to play.

Maggie spent the whole time on that trike. She didn’t use the pedals, just pushed it with her feet (backwards), and was so proud of herself. She kept making an “eeeeeeee” noise while she did it, no idea what vehicle she was mimicking with that.

Before dinner, Adam worked on valentines for his class party on Friday.

I picked up the crayons during last year’s back-to-school sales, and so for less than $5 we were able to put together some really fun Valentine’s Day treats for his friends. Adam loved decorating the labels with drawings and stickers.

Cookies, Paint & Sass

Adam mentioned last week that they sometimes have M&M cookies in the cafeteria at school. I told him it was okay with me if he bought one for a special treat during lunch. He checked every day this past week but they didn’t have them.

So I picked up some Valentine’s M&Ms at the store and we made our own last night. I gave him two recipes to choose from and he picked this one. They are delicious.

This morning the boys had a Home Depot workshop. I didn’t get any pictures of the actual building (Maggie was entertaining herself in the cart with my phone and it was better that I kept an eye on them while the hammering was happening).

Adam did a great job and built almost the entire thing by himself. I only had to start a couple of nails for him.

Luke did really well too (he only hit my thumb once) and I was amazed that he didn’t get any paint on his clothes.

They were pretty proud of their finished projects. We have them in the garage right now (Luke’s especially had some pretty big paint globs), and I can’t wait to inspect them with the boys tomorrow.

After Home Depot, we went back to the house to regroup and clean up before Adam’s basketball game.

Maggie wore her sassy pants and tried to run onto the court – twice.

2015-02-07 12.18.20

Adam had a good game. He did a nice job dribbling the ball and had a lot of fun.

Yesterday

Here’s a glimpse of what our day looked liked yesterday.

Luke played with his “Oh-hi-Ohio States-es” puzzle.

The kids hung out in Maggie’s room for a little while.

Luke likes to have me call out numbers for him to find on Maggie’s rug. Maggie was trying to play along. Though when I started recording her, she decided to have a dance party instead.

We got bundled up to walk to the bus stop (if it’s over 40 and not raining, we walk).

Once we got home, Adam brought the recycling bins in for me. He’s good like that.

What’s up Doc?

Some things I am loving right now:

1. Adam taking over some of the bedtime story reading.

2015-02-03 20.07.20

2. Maggie using her pretend phone to talk to Aunt Stacy and Daddy yesterday. She walked around chatting with each of them for a while.

And one thing I am not a fan of right now – poor Luke has ear infections (again). He woke up Sunday complaining that his ear hurt and a trip to the doctor Monday morning confirmed infections in both ears.

He’s on a new antibiotic that should (hopefully) have him feeling totally better by tomorrow. It’s not as quick working as the penicillin based antibiotics, but we learned with his last ear infections that he’s allergic to penicillin (head to toe rash/hives, swollen joints, and fevers – not fun – and neither were the two trips to the doctor and one late night ER visit to figure out what was causing it all).

2015-02-02 17.30.36Hopefully the medicine does its job and he’s back to my normal happy Luke Luke soon.
