Our Weekend
We had a very busy weekend. On Saturday, we started our day with Adam’s t-ball game. Then we went to Lowe’s to pick up a kit for him to build a dragon. He had to miss the actual workshop, since it was the same time as his game. The employee that normally runs the building workshops saved a kit for Adam at the customer service desk.
Then we went to Toys R Us, so that Adam could take part in a Lego event they were hosting. While he and Dave were building, I walked around the store with Luke and Maggie. Luke had gotten a coupon from Toys R Us for his birthday, so I let him pick out a new train.
I was pretty excited when we found this train on clearance. We didn’t have James (that’s the train’s name) yet and he’s red (Luke’s current favorite color).
After the Lego event, we went to lunch and then out for frozen yogurt.
Sunday morning Dave and Adam built the dragon kit we’d picked up the day before. Then we went out to spend some time at the playground. It was our first time visiting this playground, and the kids loved it.
Dave did too. That’s him with Luke in the top of what Adam called, “the lookout”, and yes, he got out of the lookout by going down that big slide.
After the playground we went back to the house. Dave had soccer to watch and Father’s Day snacks to consume.

Here are links to Adam’s answers the past two years, in case you’re interested (Kelly).
Lego Club Meeting
Last month we took Adam to his first Lego Club Meeting. My parents watched Luke and Maggie, so Dave and I were able to spend some one-on-one time together with Adam.
The meeting had a Star Wars theme. The kids were broken in to groups by age and given a bin full of bricks to build a space vehicle with.
While the kids were building, a store employee walked around and asked them trivia questions about Star Wars. If they got their question right, they got a Lego minifigure. Adam correctly identified one of Anakin Skywalker’s children (with a hint from us, it helps to have a brother named Luke – he was a little disappointed to learn that Luke’s sister is named Leia, not Maggie).
After all the kids were done building, they gathered around a table and each child took a turn showing off their creation. Adam was the only one to re-purpose a Lego frying pan as a gun for his ship.
Each of the kids got a goody bag before they left. Adam got a Lego Star Wars t-shirt, a small Lego kit, and an R2-D2 key chain, in addition to the minifigure he got from answering his question.
They didn’t get to keep their creations, but we did let him fill a bucket from the pick-a-brick wall before we left. Dave, I mean Adam, also got a Lego kit of the Millennium Falcon before we left.
On our way to the Lego event, Adam was talking about all of the things you can make with Lego bricks. He named a few things and then said that they only thing you couldn’t make was a Leaning Tower of Pisa, because it would fall over. So it was pretty funny later, when we found one on display in the store.
There were a lot of fun displays to look at and Adam added a few things to his birthday wish list as we walked around.
We’ll have to miss the June Lego Club meeting, but we already have him signed up for the July one. He doesn’t know about it yet, but it’s a couple of days before his birthday and that month’s theme is Ninja Turtles. He’s asked me repeatedly if he can have a Lego Ninja Turtle birthday cake (a giant cookie cake to be more specific), so I am totally going to take the credit and tell him that the club meeting was special for his birthday. 🙂
Still cute.
Batting Clean Up
Each time Adam gets to a base while he’s playing t-ball, he picks it up and dumps all of the dirt off of it. It’s pretty funny and I finally remembered to get a video of it at his game on Monday.
He told me it’s because he doesn’t like it when the base has rocks on it. He’s a nut.
(That squeaking you hear is what happens when the kids jump on the base.)
