Luke’s Uniform

I wasn’t kidding about Luke being picky about his clothing. My mom was able to get him in to shorts last weekend though. The number one rule about Luke wearing shorts is that no one mentions that Luke is wearing shorts.

At least I can still dress Maggie.

Go Race

This morning, Luke walked in to my bedroom holding a waffle that he’d stolen from the freezer. When I reprimanded him for it, he held it out like a steering wheel and said, “It not waffle, it a car mommy”, and then he drove away.

Whenever we go outside Luke asks if he can “go race.” That means drive around on the tricycle or in his red car. The car is his favorite mode of transportation.

Luke is very particular about his clothing lately. Most days he wants to wear a red shirt with an airplane on it (thankfully we have two, one is Adam’s). He will also accept a red shirt with a train on it, or a blue shirt with an airplane.

He’s also very anti-shorts lately. Whenever I do manage to get him in to a pair he tries to pull them down to cover the rest of his legs. When that doesn’t work, he insists on changing in to pants. I tried to trick him the one day by pointing out how Adam was wearing shorts and making a big deal about it. Luke looked at him and said, “Wow, nice job Adam! Look good!”

Luke is also one of Adam’s biggest fans at t-ball. He loves pointing out the numbers on the back of the kids’ shirts.

He’s pretty fantastic.

12 Month Checkup

Little Miss had her 12 month check up today. She was so good. She didn’t cry at all while the nurse took her measurements and didn’t even mind the doctor (she was not a fan last time). She didn’t make a peep when she got a shot either.

She’s clapping in this picture, it was taken before she learned about this next part

Maggie had to have blood work done this visit, to check for anemia and lead. The phlebotomist commented on what a pretty baby she was (because she is) and said he sees a lot of babies in his line of work and she was definitely near the top of the list (I think he must have meant “at the top of the list”). His flattery did not work on Margaret. As soon as he put the needle in her arm to draw blood, she decided they WERE NOT going to be friends.

Mother’s Day

I had a pretty nice Mother’s Day.

Adam made me two gifts, one at Home Depot and one at Lowe’s. He was so proud of himself and I love them both. The flower delivery truck is holding one of the roses from the bouquet my parents got for me. I also got a new knitting bag from Maggie and Luke. I’m spoiled, I know.

We went to the playground and had a dinner picnic. The boys ran around and played, occasionally stopping by to take a bite.

Adam at Bat

Adam had his first game last night. It was fantastic.

I tried to get a video of Adam batting, but he saw me with my phone pointed at him and just held the bat and smiled. He told the coach he couldn’t hit the ball yet because his mom needed to take a picture.

I told him in the future, if he sees me taking pictures at his t-ball game, he should just pretend I’m not there and pay attention to the game and his coaches. So maybe we’ll be able to record a hit next game.

IMG_3083 IMG_3084 IMG_3088 IMG_3094 IMG_3096 IMG_3098T-ball is so fun. There was a little boy on the other team that threw an epic tantrum on the first baseline, a little girl who picked the ball up and put it back on the tee after she hit it each time, and of course my kid provided some entertainment too. After his first at bat, when he made it to third, he got very concerned because he didn’t have his glove. He also was let out of the game early, because he had to go potty.

They only played three innings this game (it took about an hour and a half). I can’t wait until his next game.

T-Ball Pictures

Adam had his first t-ball game tonight. Before we went to the field I took a bunch of pictures in his uniform. My plan was to (hopefully) get a picture good enough where I won’t feel guilty about not buying the professional photos that will be taken later this week (holy expensive prints Batman).

IMG_8877 IMG_8880 IMG_8881 IMG_8884 IMG_8886 IMG_8890 IMG_8892 IMG_8898 IMG_8900 IMG_8905Not a bad first attempt. I might try again another day, there were some shadows on his face in a few that I wasn’t happy with. I need to practice more with our camera and learn the settings better (maybe even take it off of auto once in a while).

For now though, I think we’ll be okay just ordering a copy of the team print.

Oh, and for those curious, Adam throws right-handed and bats left-handed. We weren’t sure about the throwing hand until about a month ago (he’s not bad with his left hand either), but he definitely hits better left-handed.

And his team name is not “Icky Doodles”, though he thinks it’s hilarious that the N doesn’t make an appearance in any of those photos.

12 Month Bear in the Chair

012 Maggie 012a MaggieIt just recently dawned on me that Maggie and Luke look a lot alike. I’ve heard other people say it before (Dave included) and noticed it every once in a while in pictures, but for some reason, it just hit me that yeah, they look a LOT alike.

compare

I’m not sure which rock I’ve been living under. I mean, it’s not like I spend every day with these children and I’ve only known them their entire lives.
